Relationship between the Animals and Ecology

It reminds me of the lines in D.H. Lawrence’s ‘Women in Love’, “Don’t you find it a beautiful clean thought, a world empty of people, just uninterrupted grass, and a hare sitting up?” Well, this one is a very complex relationship and significantly important one too, in our biosphere. Over the past half century and decades, we have been discovering new and astonishing facts about their essence and complexity. The animals play a very important and an essentially integral part in our ecology and wildlife.

To understand this relation, what does actually the term “Ecology” mean? It is the branch of scientific study that deals with the relationship, interactions and the interdependence of the organisms with the surrounding or environment or the biosphere. This complex inter connectedness of the organisms as a system by the ecological community and also with its environment is called the ecosystem. Here are some factors to this relationship:

(1) Adaptation: Every animals adapt and adjust to their surroundings for their survival to the extreme possible conditions set by the nature. This quality of simulation in them and the modifications they make over a period of time results in their existence as well as variations amongst a particular species.

(2) Habitat: It is the specific place under a given natural condition provided by the nature where the organisms find solace, shelter and surviving tactics for their existence.

(3) Migration: it could be permanent or temporary but usually it is the seasonal moving or locomotion of the animals from one place to another habitat in search of a suitable environment as a mechanism for their survival.

There are many other factors too. But, this complexity and connection is what makes the Mother Nature so wonderful!
